Ayhan Özer
Ayhan Özer was born in 1977 in
Gaziantep. He got his primary, secondary and high school degrees in this city.
In 2001, he graduated from the department of Arts Teaching in Arts Faculty in
Mustafa Kemal University and he started his career as a research assistant in
the same year. He got his MA at the Institute of Social Sciences at Mustafa
Kemal University in 2004 and in the same year he was appointed as a research
assistant to Arts Faculty in Ankara University according to the law 2547 and 35th article. He continued to work there until 2011. He did his military service
between the years 2009-2010.
In 2009, he held his first
personal exhibition called “Düşenler” in Ankara. After two years, he presented
his PhD dissertation called ‘1980 Sonrası Türk Resim Sanatında Yeni Oluşumlar
ve Sanat Eğitimine Yansımaları (New Formations of Turkish art post 1980 and Its
Reflections on Art Education).’ He continued his career as a research assistant
after handing his PhD dissertation between the years 2011 and 2013 in the same
university.
In 2013, he was appointed as an
assistant professor to the department of Arts at Fine Arts Faculty in the
University of Gaziantep. He still works as a head of Art department and a
vice-dean there.
He continues his academic work
covering many fields of art with one personal and several competitive group
exhibitions alongside unpublished stories, essays and scripts. He also has
several national and international academic papers except for the products of
plastic arts. He sustains his career in different disciplines with his
sculptures he has done in international workshops.
He has participated in a lot of
academic projects. Along with implemented book projects, he still works on
academic and artistic projects.
Most of his works deal with
perception of life post-modernism, discourse on pure human reality and their
contrasts. He appreciates his works as ‘a post-modernist criticism on the
concept of Post-modernism’.
